 If you are not lucky enough to be able to watch the Dolphins as they play near the promenade in Youghal, you can take a boat ride to get closer to Dolphins and you may see Whales too. Whale and dolphin watching trips operate from Youghal and Cork harbours. The same boats also operate trips from Kinsale. The duration of the dolphin and whale watching trips is about 3-4 hours. Click here to play the Video. The trips will go only when the probability of sightings are good and are therefore dependant on weather, visibility, sea state and season. To date research has shown that, given favourable conditions, sightings are constant. The Boat 'Mischief' is designed to provide a safe comfortable enjoyable trip with individual indoor seating for 8 passengers and ample deck space she is ideal for whale and dolphin watching even on cold winter days. Whale & Dolphin watching must be carried out in a responsible fashion and operators must abide with the policies laid down by IWGD (The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group). Whales Dolphins and Porpoise's are collectively know as Cetaceans. They are marine mammals that frequently visit our harbours, estuaries and coastal waters. Common Dolphins and Harbour Porpoises are frequently seen and resident throughout the year. The Common Dolphin is the most playful of all the Cetaceans. They are fast swimmers and are often seen riding the bow waves of boats. The Bottlenose Dolphin also frequently found throughout the year travel in smaller groups with the males sometimes travelling alone. Minkie, Fin and Humpback Whale visit our coasts from late April to early January. Each type of whale has its own distinguishing features and habits with the Humpback often providing the entertainment. Encounters with Pilot Whales and Killer Whales (Orcas) are less frequent but possible throughout the year.
Youghal
From the weekend of the 15th of April a boat will be available from Youghal.
Mischief is an 11 metre Rib with cabin and deck for viewing.

From Sunday 18TH June to 3RD September on Sundays only a boat will be available from the quay in front of the tourist office. Chernobyl is an 8.4metre Rib with wrap around canopy.
